PHILIP SEYFRIED

Philip Seyfried is an educator and keynote speaker who has spent over a decade making literacy learning come alive for middle and high school students. As a curriculum developer and workshop facilitator with Teachers College, Columbia University, Philip trains teachers in effective writing and reading instruction.

Philip is emerging as a respected researcher in children's literature and a thought leader in integrating technology into instruction. His forthcoming research examines representations of Native American identities in children's nonfiction texts, demonstrating a need to question the texts we invite into our classrooms. His forthcoming book on Digital Literacy and Artificial Intelligence examines how classrooms can thoughtfully integrate digital tools to support learning while holding tightly to our humanity.

Philip often tells educators, "We need to teach kids to fall in love with their own words." He maintains that while there is much fear concerning artificial intelligence in literacy education, there is also a moment for us all to reach out and find the parts of ourselves that are truly human. In doing so, we might just help young people write less for their teachers and assignments and more for themselves and each other.

If you want to spark dialogue and explore the future of digital literacy instruction at your school or conference, bring Philip to explore the future of literacy education.
